For Immediate Release. December 2nd, 1994, Palo Alto, Calif.
Analytic Legal Programs, Inc. announced today that it shipped Version
1 of Programs, Inc. announced today that it shipped Version 1 of ,
the newest version of its well-known WorkForm document assembly
system.
Visual WorkForm provides sophisticated capabilities for drafting
repetitive documents which require significant variations in text.
The program is targeted at corporate departments involved in
contracts administration, and at the documentation and transaction
processing needs of financial institutions. It offers opportunities
for reducing legal overhead, and for managing complex document
drafting processes.
Visual WorkForm represents a complete rewrite of the DOS version 3.1
of WorkForm, used by numerous large law firms. Eric Little,
President of Analytic Legal Programs stated: "Visual WorkForm is
oriented around the graphical paradigms used by the newer operating
systems. Its new visual orientation will significantly expand the
appeal of WorkForm and make its functionality accessible to new
categories of users."
The initial release of the program runs under the NEXTSTEP operating
system. Releases are also planned for Windows 3.x and other
graphical user interface based operating systems. Visual WorkForm
was written in Objective C using the NEXTSTEP development tools.
Visual WorkForm is the result of a 2 year development effort. Gregg
Morris, head of software development for Analytic, indicated that
"Use of the advanced NEXTSTEP development environment permitted us to
completely rearchitect and rewrite the product in a shorter time
frame than possible with other tools. The result is a much better
product than could have achieved through other means."
Analytic has been the market leader in technological innovations in
document assembly. Mr. Little emphasized that, "Visual WorkForm will
permit us to fully develop our full vision of document assembly
technology. It lays the groundwork for significant future expansions
of WorkForm functionality. " He indicated that the company expected
to announce a number of innovations based on the new system over the
next 12 months.
Development of Visual WorkForm was funded in part by the London law
firm of Linklaters & Paines. Additional funding was provided by
Bowne & Co., a world wide financial printer based in New York.
